New Graphics June 2016

. Kinda' thing folks who are inspired by vinyl records, analog, hip hop, collecting music, DJing, etc. are into. Can't resist the thrift store because you never know what could be lurking in those boxes, that has been overlooked by others, and to think that the sound silenced by years tucked away in a sleeve can once again be raised back to life with a decent needle and turntable... it's a beautiful thing. Keep digging, my friends!

Here's an older article about the vibe
and the un-missable series that's just plain awesome

The Tiny Magic of Laserburn

I was thinking about Laserburn the other day, and looked up and found The Penultimate Blog's article on the game. I was surprised to see that it is still available, the game dates back to 1980 and a line of 15mm figs came out to augment game-play. 15mm is a nice format, though it does strain the eyes when it come to painting the things.

Relic of Role Playing Past

This is a pretty remarkably fun video to check out, role playing past from the UK, featuring Ben Elton. There are two other parts as well which you can find at the end of the first part.

It's a very interesting 'street level' perspective of the gaming industry in the good old days. Fascinating interviews with Games Workshop folks, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.

But the shelves of the shop Ben is in in the beginning, covered in awesome classics, the kind of stuff one would find on the awesome blog Mesmerized by Sirens.

No Such Thing as Unlucky Numbers

Superstition would have us think that the instances of 13 we see indicate something bad, something negative, some type of devilish influence. Not always, and not often, for me thirteen always corresponds with something that works, a logic that fits in with life in general and stays strong. Maybe the frequencies that it exudes resonate with those who in interested in the arcane and the occult, who spend hours in tiny basement workshops listening to heavy metal music painting tiny little lead miniatures with agonizing detail, or those who walk rain-drenched cobble stone streets in search of a more palpable gothic experience.

I made this graphic up and it seemed to be quite nice, so there you have it. http://www.zazzle.com/cryptopictura/gifts?cg=196707888480366754

Adventurer's Checklist

Eating chips, playing role playing games, tabletop wargames, late into the night, rolling dice, losing dice on the floor, where my minis go. It's so easy to get wrapped up in a game and lose track of time. Let the junk food keep flowing.

The Might of the Mace

A metal ball, peppered with spikes, swinging through the air. Something primal and determined about such a blunt instrument. Un-erringly direct in its message. I've always fancied metal miniatures armed with a mace, the sorts that tabletop wargames are played with. Easy to paint, easy to interpret, the only crucial component to its effectiveness is its range: one need be close up one's intended target.
